Warwick Dance Collective
The Warwick Dance Collective will be performing in “Brigid’s Well” on Saturday at 6pm and at the Lakeside Pavilion Saturday at 4pm and Sunday at 6pm.
The Warwick Dance Collective was established in 2017, under the direction of Melissa Padham-Maass. As the resident company of the Warwick Center for the Performing Arts, The Warwick Dance Collective (WDC) is dedicated to promoting the arts and enriching the culture of the Hudson Valley by bringing top-quality, noncompetitive, professional and pre-professional dance to the region. We provide ongoing class and work opportunities for local professional dancers, and serve as a central hub for established and emerging New York City–based artists to create and share their work. Our professional company members act as mentors to local students, and through our full-length productions, festivals, and residency programs, we aim to provide educational experiences and performance opportunities as well as to make quality dance more accessible for audiences throughout the region.
“Brigid’s Well”, in collaboration with Darrah Carr Dance, features dancers Sadi Weir, Trent Kowalik and Jack Puluka, alongside Warwick Dance Collective members and students from the Warwick Center for the Performing Arts.
"Brigid's Well" is a site-specific performance celebrating nature, culture, and universal archetypes, to take place at Mountain Lake Park in Warwick, New York, as part of the Fuller Moon Arts Festival on Saturday, August 26th at 6pm.
"Brigid's Well" will prominently feature the fire of inspiration, a significant symbol in Celtic folklore representing the power of creativity and transformation. It is more important than ever to connect with this fire of inspiration in our culture, which can be inundated with negative news and social media, making it difficult for individuals to find meaning and purpose in their daily lives. The arts have the power to inspire and uplift, allowing individuals to connect with something greater than themselves. This performance is a perfect fit for the theme of this year's Fuller Moon Arts Festival, which is the Power of Fire, emphasizing the importance of connecting with the fire of inspiration.
This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by Arts Mid-Hudson.
