Special Festival Presentation

FIYAA (Forces Incredible Youth Arts Alliance) from New York City presents a new work created for the festival during a week-long artists’ residency at Mountain Lake Park in collaboration with Warwick Center for the Performing Arts.

FIYAA is the dynamic youth ensemble of the acclaimed Forces of Nature Dance Theatre, led by choreographer Jae Ponder and guided by Artistic Director Abdel R. Salaam. More than just a dance group, FIYAA is a transformative arts collective that empowers young artists through intensive training, mentorship, and high-level performance opportunities.

FIYAA’s mission extends beyond the stage—cultivating leadership, self-expression, and social consciousness in its dancers. These young performers are nurtured not only as exceptional artists but as cultural ambassadors and changemakers for their generation.

With a growing resume of national and international performances, film work, and collaborative projects with the Forces of Nature main company, FIYAA is pushing the boundaries of hip hop and contemporary dance. Their work reflects the resilience, creativity, and unity that define today’s youth—and their voice is as powerful as their movement.

FIYAA isn’t just performing. They’re making an impact. They are, in every sense, a Force of Nature.

Live Jazz and Dance Improv

Inspired by the improvisational music of Beyond Jazz sextet, Warwick Dance Collective will create a spontaneous dance piece. The dance floor then becomes a stage for the audience to join in.

Universalis (conceived by Marcela Bumpus and Aaron Bumpus in 2013, with original music by Aaron Bumpus and choreography by Teddy Tedholm, Barrington Hinds, Amanda K’mett’ Pendry, Melissa Padham-Maass, and Marcela Bumpus) is a celestial dance journey through the solar system, with each planet and the sun brought to life through distinctive movement and sound. More than a planetary portrait, Universalis explores the universal forces—gravity, light, time, and connection—that bind us across distance and difference. This site-specific restaging for the Fuller Moon Arts Festival features students from the Warwick Center for the Performing Arts, transforming the natural world into a living galaxy of motion, reflection, and wonder.
